Asus Confirms Exit From Smartphones, Shifts Focus to AI and PCs
Earlier this month, a report hinted that Asus wouldn’t be launching any new phones this year — and now that rumor has been officially confirmed, with an even bigger revelation attached: Asus is stepping away from smartphones altogether. At a special gala held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Asus chairman Jonney Shih stated that the company has no plans to release new smartphones going forward. Instead, Asus is redirecting its resources and R&D toward commercial PCs and what it calls “physical AI,” including robotics and smart glasses. Existing Asus phone users won’t be left behind, though, as the company will continue to provide maintenance, software updates, and warranty support. Shih also highlighted Asus’ strong financial performance, revealing that the company generated TWD 738.91 billion (around $23.4 billion) in revenue in 2025 — a 26% increase year over year.
